Paralegal Studies

Over the past several years, paraprofessionals have taken on an increasingly important role in providing medical, dental, and legal services. The Paralegal Studies degree provides the academic, technical and experiential foundation for a successful career in the Paralegal field. The curriculum includes a number of electives to accommodate students interested in either private or public legal practice. Students selecting courses pertaining to private practice will acquire the skills necessary to work as paralegals in large firms, in corporate legal departments, in banks, or in the offices of individual attorneys. Those who complete courses pertaining to public practice may find employment in neighborhood legal service agencies, federal and state court systems, or government offices.

Certified Legal Assistant® Review Course
This optional 3-credit Certified Legal Assistant Review Course prepares students to pass the Certified Legal Assistant Exam administered by the National Association of Legal Assistants. While this course is not a degree requirement, all Paralegal students are encouraged to take the course and the CLA® Exam.
